Miss Utility is a one-call notification center that notifies subscribing underground facility owner-members of your proposed excavation plans. If you live in Maryland, Delaware, or Washington D.C., you’re legally required to call the Miss Utility center before digging.
How Much Does it Cost?
Miss Utility is a free service provided by the owner-member utility companies. If a charge is required to mark utility lines, a customer service representative will notify you when you call or make an online request.
Why Should You Call?
You don’t want to be that neighbor that cuts off power to several houses during the middle of March Madness. Making the call to Miss Utility is the law, and it ensures that you’re excavating safely.
What are the Maryland Rules?
Everyone in Maryland must give two full business days prior to the day they plan to work and have contacted the Maryland Ticket Check System. Depending on where you live in Maryland, you may only be allowed to dig during certain times of the year.
Who Will Mark My Site?
Individual owner-members are responsible for marking their underground lines. If you’ve contacted your work out, then the company will be responsible for marking the site.
