Series 4 of 5: Production

Construction or repair of the rural house

It’s time to get to work!

By now, you know exactly what it is that you’re getting out of your renovation project. In the last three parts of this series, we discussed the beginning of our intricate process focused on customer satisfaction and communication. We stressed how important it is that we understand each other during the entire progression of your project. Like we said before, we’re renovation therapists at heart, but now—we can begin the production phase.

What Does the Production Phase Entail?

The “production” stage is all about what we do to prepare for the project and the actual period of time building or constructing your project.  We create a schedule that will reflect every step along the way from demolition to completion.  This eliminates surprises and sets proper expectations.

We first help you select the “long lead” items such as cabinets, windows and possibly custom doors.  Then we tackle all the other remaining items that need to be selected well before we start the project such as kitchen counter tops, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, flooring, tile, paint, window treatments and lots more. Finally, we develop the construction schedule and finalize other preconstruction decisions.

Construction

Now is the time to start the actual construction. At this stage, you will already know exactly how long the project will take, how much it will cost, and what you are getting. We can’t stress the importance of communication enough. Through every step of the way, our design team and our construction staff want to know that what they’re doing is exactly what you want—or even more!

Weekly Meetings

During the construction phase, we establish at least a once per week meeting between our production manager and our clients.  This critical step helps everyone track how the job is going and keeps the communication line open.
